Detoxification

12 May

The First Great Key to Improve and Help Any Health Problem

Detoxification, elimination or cleansing are all synonymous terms.

Let’s look first of all at how the body works in order to understand detoxification.

The basic fundamental unit of the body is the cell.

We group enough cells together we get either tissue or an organ. We group organs together we get systems. We put all the systems together and we get a human body.

It’s the job of the cardiovascular pulmonary system to deliver everything the cell needs via the arterial system.

The cell needs nutrients, the cell needs oxygen, the cell needs materials in order to perform its function. That is the job of the circulatory system.

The job of the lymphatic system and the venous system is to take away the un-used or by-products of the cell and carry them away.

That is the detoxification or elimination side of the cell.

So we have the delivery system of everything the cell needs using the arterial system, then we have the venous and lymphatic system which takes away the garbage and the unwanted substance away from the cells.

That material is then processed through the liver, kidneys, bowel, skin and the lungs to be eliminated.

So you can see we have a number of organs and we have a number of systems here in delivery to the cell and taking away from the cell.

In my clinic the most common procedure that I use is detoxification and rejuvenation.

I do a lot of testing on my patients.

We have a Vega system which is a very specific way of analysing what’s going wrong with the body.

I also use a lot of muscle testing which tells me the specific information about what’s wrong in the body, and almost without realising it I find myself, particularly in the beginning of care with a patient, putting the patient on a detoxification and a rejuvenation program to get them started.

It’s only when I looked back on what I was doing that I realised I was repeating this procedure over and over again even though I went to great lengths to find out what was actually wrong with this patient.

I found after sitting down and thinking about it, I would be putting the patient on virtually the same procedure over and over again. Not every time, but many, many times.

Where do these wastes and toxins come from?

Well, they come from the natural processors of metabolism in the body.

As the cell performs its function it has to get rid of the by-products of its many processes. It has to get rid of the wastes that are produced as a result of it doing its job. Other wastes and toxins actually come from our environment.

You actually take them into your body in the air that you breathe, in the water you drink.

You may have remembered the scandal that was in Sydney fairly recently about the water that we couldn’t drink because it contained parasites – and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

You take into your body whether you are aware of it or not, many things that you don’t want.

Even the food that you eat has a lot of things in it that you either don’t need, don’t want or could even be down right harmful.

Look at the flesh and dairy food such as milk and meat. Now these are two excellent foods and you will have people arguing that milk is a good food, milk is a bad food etc.

You see ads on TV, put out by (of course) the dairy corporations that milk is a great food, and you see other ads on TV talking about meat.

They are right, milk and meat are good foods but they contain a high residue of waste or unwanted substances that the body doesn’t need.

So when this food is ingested the body has to break it down, discard what it doesn’t need and then it has to be eliminated.

Now some foods contain a high proportion of waste products and some foods don’t.

The foods that don’t are your fruit and vegetables. They contain a very low percentage of waste material, so it’s very easy for the body to process these foods, but more on that just a little bit later.

A healthy body needs proper diet, nutrition, exercise, stress control, rest and relaxation.

We need to keep the level of toxicity in our bodies under control.

What do I mean by that?

The body is continually processing waste. If our bodies are not able to eliminate the toxins and the waste efficiently or quick enough, they build up and they get stored in the tissues.

This then creates a breeding ground which is a foundation for problems, so we need to restore the balance

I also believe that a build up of toxins or a toxic body is the common denominator in most of our health problems.

I believe it’s a common denominator in cancer.

We can get cancer in many different parts of the body, and there can be many triggers which can cause the cancer to start or to come out in a certain area.

I believe that there are a few common denominators in cancer, one of them is toxicity in your body.

I also believe the other main one is free radicals, which we talk about in great length in the booklet Regeneration Sensation.

I also believe they are common denominators (toxicity and free radicals) in many degenerative diseases such as arthritis and in particular – pre-mature ageing.

The Breeding Ground

Toxicity is also a breeding ground for bacteria, fungi and parasites, which none of us want.

Let’s take the example of an unhealthy plant in the garden or in nature.

What happens to an unhealthy plant? It gets attacked by fungi and bacteria and it gets broken down back into the soil, back to Mother Nature. That is the process of nature, it is designed that way.

Bacteria and fungi actually perform a beneficial function in nature – to destroy unhealthy tissue.

So if our bodies become unhealthy they become a target to those bacteria and fungi, to start breaking our body down.

So the key is to keep your body clean, keep it pure!

Mucous generally speaking is the body eliminating the impurities.

So if you get mucus then that’s usually what it indicates.

The other thing that it could indicate is that you have allergies.

Mucous is often a reaction to allergies.

Generally speaking Detoxification is usually employed to eliminate toxins and wastes from the body.

It should also be used to eliminate other harmful substances.

We have already mentioned harmful micro-organism such as viruses, bacteria fungi and parasites that may be chronically affecting the body and which the body finds difficult to get rid of.

There are two other categories of harmful substances that can also wreak havoc in the body and which the body may find difficult to get rid of.

These are Toxic Chemicals and Heavy Metals.

Unfortunately our environment is so contaminated now that these two “bad dudes” are in the food chain.

There are three main petro-chemical solvents that are used as additives in many things.

These are propyl alcohol, benzene and methanol.

Sometimes they are listed with slightly different names.

The other group of baddies is heavy metals.

Aluminium, mercury and lead are just three examples, but there are a lot more.

These heavy metals create havoc in the body.

We will discuss these groups more in future newsletters and in our FREE HEALTH SEMINARS (Tues. 22nd may is our next one).

19th Century Wisdom

Samuel Thompson who was an American herbalist in the 19th century likened the body to a furnace. Its purpose is to create heat and to provide a function – whatever that may be.         Such as to heat a boiler or to drive an engine.

A furnace provides heat so you must put fuel in and you must provide an exhaust. You must provide some form of elimination channel from the furnace, whether it’s a flue, Chimney or whatever. Now guess what happens if you block that chimney or that flue? If you cover up the exhaust of the furnace it either goes out or it struggles. It struggles to perform its function. There is not the energy being produced in that furnace that it needs.

Suppose you put fuel into that furnace that is very high in waste. Suppose the fuel is impure. Suppose you’re putting coal in and that coal is of very poor quality, or oil and the fuel is very poor quality. If the furnace is hot enough, efficient enough and healthy enough – sure it’ll burn it and out will go the slag through the flues or the exhaust.

The furnace will eliminate it just like our bodies will.

So if you’re really, really healthy and everything is working properly you can get away with putting the unhealthy food in.

But if your body is not, and you need to get your body healthy, then you need to put a fuel into your body that has as little waste or slag in it as possible.

We mentioned fruit and vegetables as being the ideal fuel for the body.

If you want to have a healthy body just think of the furnace, keep the elimination channels open and put the good fuel in.

Food is not just for fuel.

We also need food to actually help our bodies rebuild and repair themselves otherwise we age too quickly which obviously we don’t want.

So, we’ve talked about the residue in food, we gave you that example already.

Consume foods that are low in that unhealthy residue.

It’s okay if you want to have dairy products. It’s okay if you want to have meat, but keep them under control.

If you are out of balance, if you have too much toxicity then reduce those food for the time being.

How to Detoxify

Well we’ve already covered that in part but let’s look at it in more detail.

  • ·         Reduce the input of your garbage.

  • ·         Eat mild foods in the form of fruits and vegetables or juices.

  • ·         Exercise is also very important. You must move the body. The body needs movement in order to perform its functions properly. I could talk for a whole hour on exercise alone but I just want to touch on it here, that when you move, your fluids move through your body. The fluids carry the waste and the toxins. Rebound exercise in my opinion on a mini trampoline is the single most efficient exercise you can do for improving your health. Any exercise is good and a variety is better but if you’re going to do one thing and if you are not able to exert yourself to any great degree – rebounding is wonderful because you get that gentle movement and that will stimulate the elimination channels like you would not believe. In fact sometimes you have to be very careful how you do it because you can overload the elimination channels.

  • ·         Deep breathing is also another one. It’s very important to deep breathe (see the article Breath of Life). Why? The more oxygen you get into your system the more you can burn those impurities out. Also deep breathing actually massages your organs creating movement which is what you need.

  • ·         Water. Well guess what water is? Water is the universal solvent. It is the cheapest, most effective medicine that you can consume. But not just any water, it’s got to be either purified or good quality spring water. Drinking tap water is better than drinking no water at all, don’t get me wrong. You need the water (see separate article). The water is the medium by which the body dissolves its impurities and carries them out. Can you imagine washing your hair in coffee? Can you imagine washing your clothes in orange juice? Can you imagine washing your car in tea? Its ridiculous isn’t it? And yet people think these things will actually help cleanse the body, it must be water and ideally either purified or a good quality spring water.

  • ·         Fasting. There have been many things written about fasting and I have fasted too and let me tell you it is no fun. I fasted once for seven days on juices and it nearly killed me. If you have low blood sugar or if you have a fast metabolism or if you’re really sick do not fast. Fasting is one tremendous way to actually restore the balance to your body because you’re not putting any garbage in and your body is able to get rid of the stored garbage. What about the body’s needs?  What about the nutritional needs and the energy needs of the body? And so that’s why I believe that you’re better off just using fruit and vegetables.

  • ·         Herbal products. Now, where detoxification is really good is if you use certain herbs. This will fast track the process like you would not believe and so your diet then does not have to be so severe. Using herbs will enable you to detoxify your body much quicker and easier

Nutritional Products That Help

You don’t have to use herbal or nutritional products to detoxify your body.                          You can do it by just using diet and conversely you can detoxify using products without modifying your diet.

Obviously it is much easier and much more effective if you do both.

Also the diet changes don’t have to be so extreme when coupled with products.                 This is good news to most of us.

There are a number of products that you can use to help your body detoxify itself.

I want to concentrate on two but I’m going to mention others.

If you are doing this without supervision I recommend you do it slowly and gradually  because it can be unpleasant initially as your body processes all the built up waste products.

Symptoms of headaches, nausea, skin outbreaks etc can occur.

Fortunately these don’t occur often and if so only for a few days.

We recommend the Zeta8 products RegR8 and Fulmin8 to start with then move on to InvigR8 and CitR8.

These products over a 2 month will produce great results without upsetting things too much.

If you are looking to improve your weight management this is a great way to start to create a solid foundation for the specific weight control products.

See Zeta8.com for more details on any of these products.

If you are under supervision or require a stronger effect you can use a specific tissue herbal cleansing or bowel cleansing formula from Nature Sunshine Products.

You must add Slippery Elm or Psyllium to these to provide bulk for the bowel and provide a medium to carry out the wastes from the body.

Chlorophyll, Hydrated Bentonite and Aloe Vera juice can also be added for greater effect or for specific cases as each has specific effects in the body.

Stress Busters

10 Apr

From Stress, Anxiety, Depression and Fear to Life Empowerment (Part 2)

Some of these are very simple but helpful nonetheless.

Relaxation

Although this may seem obvious and simple I dare say that not many of us practice this particular strategy much if at all.

There are different ways that you can get relaxation but the idea is to put yourself in a situation where there is no stress on your body at all – a complete absence of stress.

A good example of this is of course the flotation tanks, where you are immersed in the salty water and float with the lid closed. There is no light, there may be some sound but you take away as much stimulation from your senses as possible.

I am not saying you need to get into a flotation tank but that just gives you an example of what relaxation means. Non-stimulation of as many senses as possible.

The right music or the right ambience can contribute to your relaxation .The stimulation of some senses may actually be helpful. Spending 10 minutes a day simply relaxing your body and your mind is a very powerful way to control your stress.

Endeavoring to stay relaxed as much as possible throughout your day in all your activities can also be helpful.

There is a power that flows through you when you do things in a relaxed state. You may find there are odd moments during the day when you’re doing idle things such as driving, waiting in a queue etc. You can use these idle moments when you don’t have to do anything specific or significant just to check your tension in your body and to deliberately try to relax as much of your body and your mind as possible.

The jaw is a good indicator of how much stress you have. If you are clenching your teeth or your jaw is tight then you have too much tension in your body, so just relaxing your jaw can have a trigger affect everywhere else in your body.

Relaxing your shoulders and rolling your neck can also help to relieve some tension.

If you are sitting at a computer or in the one position for too long make sure you put some movement into your body or even your shoulders and your neck to release the tension.

What you think about also effects your tension but we will speak more about that later.

Exercise

This is a two-edged sword.

Excessive exercise obviously can increase your stress but exercise has many benefits.

As far as stress is concerned, it is good to do your exercise in a relaxed fashion with your mind relaxed and even your body relaxed where possible so you only use the muscles you really need to use.

Of course certain exercises can be better for relaxation than others, such as yoga, pilates, stretching and even swimming if you can get yourself into the right state of mind.

A vigorous exercise can also be a way to get rid of frustrations, burn off some tension, kicking the cat so to speak (sorry cat lovers). It’s a way of relieving yourself of built up emotions.

It is also important to remember your breathing during your exercises.

Let your breathing dictate your exercise. What we mean is, breathing as deeply as you can and letting your exercise follow the rhythm and the pattern of your breathing so you have flow and rhythm in what you do.

Diet and Nutrition

Your diet and your nutrition are all important in helping your physical health to assist your mental health.

Diet

It’s not our intention to enter into a lot of detail here because this is covered in depth elsewhere (see The Health Empowerment Program).

Eating a protein breakfast and avoiding sugar and refined carbs. helps balance blood sugar levels thus providing a consistent fuel supply for the brain and also takes extra stress off the adrenal glands (see Sugar Control Diet).

Specific nutrition

There are certain nutrients, herbs, minerals, vitamins etc that can actually help your body to deal with stress, maintain relaxation and strengthen the nervous system. Part of this is aimed at the adrenal glands specifically to help nourish and repair those glands and support them so that they can perform their function.

Nutrition for the immune system can also contribute to the health of the adrenals and the nervous system.

There are a number of products that we use at the clinic to achieve this

When I was studying my Medical Herbal Diploma Course I created my own formula to help me personally.

I have been using this formula regularly for over 20 years with great results not only for myself but also for others.

It helps to support the adrenal glands, control blood sugar and provide energy.

This formula with some additions is now available from Zeta8 (www.zeta8.com) and is called TestostR8.

Don’t let the title put you off as this is mainly a marketing term.

It can be used by anyone to help those functions just mentioned.

The healthier you are the more you can deal with stress so there are many things that you can do to improve your physical health to improve your mental health because one affects the other.

Massage

Certain treatments can also help relieve built up stress.

Massage of course, hot stone massage, Indian head massage and other sorts of massage you can have can also relieve stress.

Nature

Certain aspects of nature have a therapeutic and relaxing rejuvenating effect on the body, so find out which aspect of nature does it for you.

The mountains, countryside, seaside or whatever it may be.

Perspective

Our perspective and our attitude towards life can create a lot of stress.

If we feel that something is too much for us then that will cause us more stress.

If we have low self-esteem this can also contribute to our stress.

Remember stress occurs when we either are or we think we are inadequate for the task.

If something is too much for us then that will tend to create stress.

There are many forms of fear which again is a form of believing something is too much for us or something is going to be hard for us.

We do have a “fight or flight” mechanism built in to help to protect and preserve us and so when danger is present there are certain hormones that are released which help us either to escape our fear or to confront our danger.

This is a normal response in the body.

It is only designed to operate for a very short period of time.

Unfortunately when we perceive that there is a constant danger then the response of our body to that danger will be prolonged, which is not how it is designed to be.

This will ultimately lead to a decline in that function, a vicious cycle indeed.

We become less and less able to deal with it and therefore it has a greater and greater effect on us.

Unfortunately, what is even more significant is that our perceptions often come through our subconscious and many times we are not aware of what is stored in our subconscious.

This effects how we see things and how we see things determines to a great degree how much stress we have.

Reprogramming the Subconscious Mind

Fortunately, the Biocybernetics system we use has a very powerful and profound effect on discovering the unknown subconscious programs or conditioning.

It is able to identify and release us from those chains or that prison that we may have been in for most of our lives.

It is highly successful and we recommend you look into this to really make a big difference in your life.

The Biocybernetics is in two parts.

The first part is to teach people how to release the negatives, which is the negative subconscious programming so that you can be free of your fears and your anxieties and all of that conditioning that is limiting you in dealing with life effectively.

The second part is where we teach how to program in positives to the subconscious so that you not only become less of a victim of life, you actually become more of a player in life.

You begin to live your life on your terms and be free from that prison in which you are bound and begin to experience the exhilaration that can come from the power to achieve your dreams and your desires.

In a new book that we have just completed called The Magnificent Mind we talk about what happens when you become exhilarated.

Exhilaration causes certain hormones to be released called endorphins in the brain and these endorphins can give you a real high. They can make you feel absolutely fantastic which of course is the opposite of the effects of stress.

These endorphins are released when you do things that exhilarate you.

However what may exhilarate one person may put the fear of death into somebody else. It’s all a matter of perspective.

My son in law Tony is a dare-devil and he gets a real adrenalin rush from doing crazy things.

If he happens to read this he is going to laugh when he does because he doesn’t think that he is taking risks but he does things that would frighten the life out of me and stress me yet he does it and it exhilarates him and he gets a high from it.

I am sure you know many other things that people do to get their “highs” whereas if it would have happened to us it would give us a “low.”

Finding out what exhilarates you and having the courage (not fear) to go out and do it can really make a huge difference in your life.

But before you can become exhilarated you may need to get rid of some of the things that are holding you back, such as fears, apprehension etc.

That’s why in Biocybernetics we generally get rid of the negatives first which make it easier for you then to go on and achieve your positives. In the title we talked about stress management or life empowerment and this is what we meant – to differentiate the two. You can spend your life struggling with stress and all of its effects, a life of misery, a life of pain, a life of suffering and a life of sorrow or you can move “up, up and away” from all that unhappiness.

We can’t always eliminate it completely from our lives because it has a purpose.

It teaches us many things.

We can though handle it a lot better and it will certainly affect our lives a lot less – if we know how.

So we can move on and up to manage the stresses in our life a lot better by doing some of things we have talked about.

Then we can move on an even higher level and we can fly into the sky of exhilaration. It’s a step-by-step process where you can move from the level you are on up to those higher heights.

It is very difficult to make a jump from the bottom to the top.

Usually you have to take it a step at a time, but that is ok because we have all of the tools to help you do that and this article is a starting point for you and so there is no excuse. We have the tools and the means to help you if we haven’t already and if you do your part, put in the effort, pay the price, do the work, have patience you will get there as many of our patients have already done who can attest to this.

You see, the power is in your hands.

It won’t help to play the victim, to wallow in self pity, to blame others or even yourself.

Things will only change when you change.

We have the tools, the information and the skills to help you to make a difference in your life.

Whatever you do, I hope this article has been of some help to you and even more – I hope it will start you off on a better life for you and the ones you love.

From Stress, Anxiety, Depression and Fear to Life Empowerment (Part One)

19 Mar

Introduction to Stress

I am sure that most of you reading this article are quite familiar with stress in their lives. It is literally a part of our lives now. Many of us handle stress reasonably well and on the other hand many of us don’t. I think we can all benefit from a better understanding of what stress really is, what causes it and how we can manage it better. More than that is an even better way.

Better than stress management is life empowerment.

The two of course are different from one another but before we can have life empowerment we must first learn how to manage stress.

We will say more about that later in the article.

I also suspect that as life gets more complicated and faster; more stimulation, more information etc – it all serves to increase our stress.

It certainly affects the quality of our lives, health and relationships.

It can also lead to depression, anxiety, suicidal tendencies and certainly to a large degree  unhappiness.

Stress is also contagious.

The more stressed we are the more stress affects the people around us.

We have a stressed society all bouncing off each other and adding to one another’s stress and it would appear to me we are going in the wrong direction.

In our clinic we have been testing stress and its effects on many things; not just on the mental side of our health but also on the physical side.

This has been well researched and well documented elsewhere.

It has been estimated that 70% of patients that attend a medical doctor do so because of stress.

It has been around a long time, and it is certainly not a new topic.

I thought it was time to review this topic and see if we can contribute to decreasing the stress in people generally and pointing them in an even better direction of life empowerment.

As many of you may be aware we do treat a very wide variety of conditions in our clinic and inevitably we find stress is one of the components contributing to these various ailments that we see.

Research has connected stress to many degenerative diseases including coronary thrombosis, brain haemorrhage, hardening of the arteries, high blood pressure, kidney failure, arthritis, peptic ulcers and even cancer. In our clinic, because we treat a lot of structural problems, we find that tension is a big factor pulling on the muscles of the spine and creating spinal problems which affect the nervous system and therefore affect the health of the body. As part of the treatment protocol we have to find ways to decrease the stress in our patients so that their problems don’t keep returning too quickly.

To reduce the frequency (or number) of treatments we inevitably endeavor to reduce their stress.

The two go hand in hand. Back pains, neck pains and headaches all tend to be aggravated by excessive tension in the muscles. Stress can have a big impact in your life and can also ruin your life and ruin other people’s lives as a result so it is worthy of investigation.

What is stress?

We want to keep things as simple as we can here so this will be a limited definition to help us keep things brief and easy to understand.

Usually when we use the term stress we are really referring to bad or negative stress which, may also be called dis-tress.

In some cases stress can actually have a positive effect.

For instance – if you want to exercise or strengthen your body you stress your body by either increasing your heart and lung rate or lifting weights to strengthen your muscles.

Although this places stress on the body, the body will generally respond by becoming stronger to that stress but of course if the stress is excessive then you can injure your body and it can have the opposite effect.

When astronauts go into space they lose bone density and cardiovascular fitness because there is no gravity, which is a form of stress on the body.

Although we may think that gravity limits us in fact it assists our bodies by helping to maintain bone density and cardiovascular health.

Putting it in a more simplified way, if stress of any kind is excessive then it will have a negative effect on the body.

Excessive – meaning we are not able to respond adequately to that stress that is placed upon us and so the body begins to break down.

That can be mentally, physically or even biochemically.

Even over-excitement or over-stimulation if excessive can be detrimental by exhausting your nervous system by that over stimulation, as can other activities, which shall remain nameless in the interest of good taste.

Medical Science and Stress

There is a medical doctor and professor by the name of Dr Hans Selye who spent most of his life studying stress and in the 1950s wrote a book called “The Stress of Life.”

He also did a new addition of the book in the 1970s.

To give you an idea of the caliber of this man he actually has 3 doctorates; in medicine, philosophy and science as well as 19 honorary degrees from universities around the world; author of 32 books and more than 1500 technical articles; recipient of numerous honorary awards and medals.

So this man has very great credentials and his book is a classic; it is nearly 500 pages and is used by a lot of health professionals.

I am going to save you the effort of reading the book and summarize some of what he explains in his book.

What happens in the body when we are under excessive stress is that our adrenal glands (a gland sitting on top of the kidneys about the size of a 20c piece) are stimulated to release certain hormones.

These hormones actually help us to deal with the effects of stress.

Stress can come in many ways; it can come in emotional stress, physical stress and biochemical stress.

Either way the body has to respond to those stressors by releasing hormones and the adrenal glands go into what is called an adaptive phase or what he calls “the GAS” (general adaptive syndrome).

The adrenal glands increase in their function, which they can maintain for a certain period of time.

However a very interesting thing he observed was that when the stress has been prolonged past a certain point the adrenal glands begin to decrease in their function as they can’t maintain their adaptive response to the stress any longer.

So they begin to decrease in function and when that happens obviously we find it much more difficult to cope with the stress and we become more stress susceptible.

This results in a breakdown either physically, mentally or emotionally.

I don’t mean a nervous breakdown, what I mean is a deterioration.

When we have a nervous breakdown the adrenal glands are usually not functioning or not responding and it has been theorized that once you have a nervous breakdown your adrenal glands are never the same again and you are never as stress resistant again.

What happens in chronic fatigue is that the body becomes so depleted that it finds it very difficult to recharge or renew itself on many different fronts, not just emotionally and mentally but also physically.

It is helpful to liken the adrenal glands to a battery in a car where there are many functions in a car that require the battery to be working at its best.

Naturally this tends to drain the battery but when the engine is run it recharges the battery and so as long as we are recharging the battery then the battery can continue to provide all of the functions that the car needs such as starting the car etc.

If the battery becomes faulty or is not able to be recharged then it stays flat and it cannot supply its functions in providing the needs of those we have just mentioned.

The same thing happens to the adrenal glands, if you do not give them a chance to recharge they simply do not function as well and may never come up to full function again.

Dr Selye stated that the adrenals have a limited life span and if we abuse them too much for too long then optimum function will be affected over the long term.

Another important point for us to remember is that most of us are not aware of the degree of the stress that we have in our bodies and that it can also sneak up on us.

What I mean by that is you can come down very suddenly with an illness or even with an emotional issue because we thought we were okay and functioning well but we didn’t realize that slowly but surely the adrenals were becoming depleted. Just like batteries that are becoming flattened and all of a sudden when it doesn’t work it comes as a shock.

We can find ourselves stuck somewhere that we don’t like.

It can take quite a while to get ourselves back up to a reasonable level.

If this sounds like doom and gloom I don’t intend it to be that way, it’s more of a warning; as always prevention is better than cure.

So we are going to look as some things that will help you to manage and reduce your stress so you don’t have to end up being a casualty.

I know a lady who when she was quite young (early twenties or late teens from memory), had a significant stressful incident occur in her life.

This person ultimately got rheumatoid arthritis and has had it all her life.

She is now in her sixties and has had this painful condition all her life as a result of one major stressful situation.

It has virtually affected her life in a dramatic way.

The adrenal glands actually secrete anti-inflammatory and pro-inflammatory hormones. So when our adrenal glands become depleted even temporarily then these hormone functions can also be affected.

Inflammation can run rampant in the body creating all kinds of damage because the anti-inflammatory hormone function of the adrenals is affected and therefore the body can’t control the inflammation. Now an important point here is that inflammation does play a very important role in the body but it must be kept under control.

Inflammation is for defense and repair but there must be a balance kept.

When the adrenal glands become depleted this balance can then be affected and inflammation can than create all kinds of damage in may different areas of the body.

Fibromyalgia is a good example of this.

In fact inflammation is the big buzzword among the health professionals these days and the claim is that inflammation is a major factor in most if not all diseases. Whether that is true or not is not important here but just simply to make you aware of the fact of what excessive stress can do to your body.

Menopause or “The Change of Life”

As the ovaries begin to slow down and eventually stop manufacture of reproductive hormones the adrenal glands are meant to take over.

If the adrenal glands are already overworked or depleted due to stress they can struggle to perform the extra workload.

The result is all the excessive symptoms of menopause and low estrogen such as hot flushes etc.

Men can also get a form of this called Andropause which is simply insufficient male hormones that are normally manufactured by the Gonads.

Fortunately there are some good natural products that can be used in these cases.

The Zeta8 products EstR8 for the female and TestostR8 for the male may be helpful.

The Seven Unknown Secrets of Weight Control

23 Feb

                 What We Should Already Know

In last month’s newsletter we talked about how to shift a stubborn belly bulge. Some of the advice we shared is also contained in the seminar and booklet by the same name:- “The 7 Unknown Secretsof Weight Control”.

In this month’s newsletter we want to share with you “What you should already know” This is also contained in the same booklet.

As many of you may be aware what is currently taught by dietitians and other experts in the health field is that your weight control is a simple equation which you can write as

weight loss/gain = calories consumed – calories expended

Explaining this equation further; we eat food for a number of reasons apart from pleasure of course. We eat food to supply much needed resources to the body. Obviously without food we would die. Food provides an energy source to our body. It also provides nutrients and materials by which the body can replace itself or rebuild itself.

Energy comes from two main sources in our body – that is fat and sugar. Fat really just is stored energy, a reserve. The body can store a small amount of sugar but that is quickly used up.

This is where the principle of exercise comes in. As we exercise obviously we use our muscles and we must burn sugar to create that energy. If the exercise is strenuous enough and prolonged enough (about 12 mins.), and where your breathing is more rapid we classify that as aerobic.

After a short while you will use up your sugar or your glucose storage and then you will move into fat burning and your body will be able to burn up its fat stores.

So obviously exercise and the more of it will burn up more calories.

The term calorie simply comes from a term, which means the amount of heat which can be produced by burning a particular fuel. So obviously after exercise you will get hot as a result of raising your metabolism. Your sugar and your fat are a type of fuel for your body and the more activity you do then the more energy you will need and the more calories you burn and lose.

You burn calories all the time because your body never stops working and always needs energy. Even when you “think,” you need a fuel supply for your brain, which mainly uses sugar for its energy.

You even burn calories when you sleep.

When you exercise you are burning more calories.

So going back to the initial equation, depending upon how much food you eat is the calories you’re putting into your body.

If you are not using or burning up that amount of calories then obviously your body will store those excess calories in the form of fat. If you are burning more calories than you have put in then the body will have to use its stores thereby you loose fat.

That is the simple part of the equation.

If you limit your weight control to those two factors, the amount of food you eat and the amount of exercise you do, then you may become disappointed as many of you may already have.

We all know the individual who can virtually eat as much as they like and yet still stay skinny as a Rake.

On the other hand we have the person who will virtually starve themselves and yet still stay overweight.

So what’s going on here? What’s missing?

Well there are the 7 secrets which I m going to reveal to you now which need to be put into the equation, to be used to your great advantage.

                            The Secret Weight Loss Formula

Weight loss = Calories Consumed – Calories Expended +?+?+?+?+?+?+?

Some of these secrets were revealed in last month’s newsletter “Can’t Beat Your Belly Buldge, No matter how hard you try?”. For more information on these secrets you can attend the FREE Seminar this Tues 28th Feb, 7pm at Miranda RSL, The Kingsway. Can’t Beat Your Belly Bulge, No Matter How Hard You Try?

27 Jan

A patient that came to see me, a personal trainer, very attractive, very fit looking, yet was not happy with her stomach or what she thought was her belly bulge. No matter how hard she trained, or how much she dieted she couldn’t seem to shift her weight that was accumulating around her waist and her stomach.

She tried a product that we had recommended from someone she knew who had been able to get a “six pack” using amongst other things a Zeta8 product called FiguR8, which helps to burn fat while you asleep, more on that later.

She tried the product and after a week had noticed some improvement but then all of a sudden the improvements stopped and she still felt she had further to go. So because she felt stuck she came to see me and we checked her out and we found she did have a couple of problems that I felt were contributing to her not being able to lose the accumulated fat.

Some of those things I will mention later in the list that I will give you with respect to what you can do to beat your belly bulge.

After one to two months of working with the areas of her body that were not functioning optimally, she began to have a breakthrough and felt she was finally making some progress. A short time later she was even more delighted with the results, saying she didn’t believe that it was possible at her age to be able to shift that accumulation around her belly. She was thinking it was due to her age and no matter how hard she tried she wouldn’t be able to get rid of it so obviously she was pleased.

Now, this same result has been repeated a number of times with a number of people and we’ll share some of those stories with you at the end of this article.

The main areas that need to be considered if you feel you are stuck no matter how hard you try to beat your belly bulge are the following:-

1 Detoxification of the bowel

2 Correction of the digestion

3 Elimination of yeasts or parasites in the gut

4 Hormonal balance

5 Correction of the structure of the pelvis or spine and posture of such

6 How to activate the stomach muscles

7 How to burn the stubborn fat.

1.     Detoxification of the Bowel

I had a patient who, as part of their program did a bowel detoxification, this patient had fairly sluggish bowel movements and when she went on the detox program was amazed at how much faecal matter she was able to eliminate. She couldn’t understand where it was all coming from because she was emptying her bowels more often and with more material then she was actually consuming and couldn’t understand why there was so much of it. The obvious answer to that is she was eliminating the accumulation of all that faecal matter that can build up in the bowel. The bowel is capable of expanding quite a lot and so it can contain or store a lot of faecal matter, so when you have a bowel movement you may not have a complete evacuation of the bowel.

Not only that, the body also stores waste materials in other parts of the body, in other tissues, and so as the bowel begins to detoxify so do the other parts of the body. Other tissues can detoxify also and plus that adds to the detoxification through the bowel.

If the bowel is enlarged on the inside it will automatically create an enlargement on the outside so it can give you a protruding stomach because your bowel on the inside has swollen, thus causing a swollen stomach.

The obvious solution to this is to detoxify and cleanse the bowel, and to improve elimination.

Water is helpful for this as are water containing foods or foods that contain a high amount of water.

Fruit and vegetables fall into this category.

Other foods such as dairy products and flesh (meat foods) all tend to slow down bowel movements.

So going onto fruit and vegetables for as many days as you can will help the bowel to detoxify.

Using certain natural supplements can help the bowel to detoxify also.

Now, there is a whole range of these products or substances but for those of you who are not under the supervision of a practitioner we suggest a mild, gentle approach so you don’t get yourself into trouble. We found using the correct diet and also two products called RegenR8 and Fulmin8 from the Zeta8 Company can actually help to detoxify the bowel in a gentle and a controlled way.

There are other stronger natural products that you can use if that’s necessary but we recommend you only do that under the supervision of a practitioner.

Exercise also contributes to improved bowel movement as does deep breathing because they help to “massage” the organs and contribute to peristalsis which is a wave like motion which compresses through the bowel to help elimination.

2.                 Digestion

If improper digestion is present then one of the things that can happen is that the foods that are consumed will not be digested properly so the foods stay in the digestive system too long, and when they are there too long they begin to ferment and fermentation causes gas which then can cause bloating.

As with the bowel problem so with the digestive organs, and particularly the small intestine.

When you get gas and bloating it causes a swelling of the abdomen and so your stomach looks bigger than it needs to.

One of the ways you test for yourself is to notice how flat your stomach is first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and how different it can become once you have eaten a large meal; how bloated you can look.

This is because the food is not being digested properly which can then lead to the swelling of the digestive organs thus the swelling of the external muscles themselves or protruding abdominal muscles.

There are many causes of digestive problems which we will not cover here but we have other information for that and a particularly good article is the newsletter we have done recently on Hiatus Hernia Syndrome and another one called GERD which stands for Gastro Oesophageal Reflux Disease.

As with the bowel there are a number of products that that can be used to improve the digestion.

There are two products which we recommend for the digestive system; RegenR8 and Fulmin8, which can assist in improving digestion thus avoiding the swelling.

As with the bowel, when you do a fruit and vegetable cleanse for as many days as you can this gives the digestion a well earned break which in turn helps the digestive system to function better when you return to a normal diet.

Many of our clients and Zeta8 club members are doing the “Eight Day Fruit and Vegetable Cleanse” challenge.

One such person was Mario who no matter how hard he tried; how much he lifted weights; how much protein powder he consumed could not put on muscle. But after doing an eight day fruit and vegetable cleanse he actually gained muscle and lost fat on his stomach. So, not only did he beat the belly bulge he also beat the battle he was having putting on muscle. Much to his delight he gained a number of kilos in muscle while he was doing his eight day fruit and vegetable cleanse and taking his Zeta8 products, RegenR8 and Fulmin8.

Why did this happen? Because of the improvement in his ability to breakdown and absorb the nutrients in his food more effectively than before

We, in the clinic and some of our Zeta8 training coaches, can perform a metabolic typing test which helps to determine what specific metabolic type a person is and what specific foods they should consume and when and how often they should consume them. Now, this particular method not only helps to correct the metabolism and all the benefits that go with it but also helps to correct the digestion because the person is eating according to their body type, which automatically facilitates a better digestive system.

So that’s something else you can do to improve your digestive functions by having your metabolic typing done.

3. Yeasts and Parasites

Let’s talk about yeast first and candida which is in the same fungal family as the yeast. It is considered that all people have a certain amount of yeast or fungi in their system but when it proliferates or grows too much it then creates problems.

An overgrowth of yeast, candida or fungal cells can have a drastic, dramatic effect on the function of the digestive system. Not only does it cause incredible swelling and bloating but it also upsets the function of the digestive organs, thus adding insult to injury.

Why do we put yeast into bread?

The reason is that yeast feeds off the starch in the bread causing it to proliferate and grow. It creates gas and the gas obviously helps to lighten the bread because it fills it full of air which is fine for the bread to make it lighter but it doesn’t make you lighter, it only makes you more swollen. Like the bread expands so the yeast in your stomach will expand your stomach.

Likewise with parasites, parasites may not be as dramatic as yeast for causing gas but parasites will still upset both the digestion and the bowel if excessively present. I say excessively because we all have parasites passing through us. They are part of our environment and generally we eliminate them if we are healthy but if we are not healthy and we are not eliminating properly or digesting properly this provides an ideal breeding ground for the parasites. Parasites can be microbial, that is you can’t see them, like Giardia or cryptosporidium, or they can be visible like a tapeworm or a hookworm.

Parasites in the system can upset digestive function and bowel function and can also lead to swelling. Again the RegenR8, because it contains a pre and a pro-biotic, can help to control the growth of unhealthy organisms in the large and small intestine. There is another product called CitR8 which actually helps to destroy unhealthy organisms, particularly the yeast and the candida and we have been using similar products in our practice for many, many years with excellent results and almost invariably helps to get rid of swelling and the bloating.

4. Hormones

Talk to many women and they will tell how they can get bloating pre- period or even during their period. This indicates an involvement of the hormonal balance in the body causing swelling of the abdomen. Balancing of the hormones for females and even males can also help reduce the belly bulge. To balance the hormones requires a detoxification of the liver and the bowel but particularly herbs that supply the raw materials for the body to be able manufacturer the hormones when it needs them. The liver helps to deactivate the hormones such as progesterone and oestrogen when they are not required, so throughout the month in a female the balance between oestrogen and progesterone need to change and the liver as well as the ovaries are involved in manufacturing the hormones when the body needs them and the liver is involved in deactivating them when the body doesn’t need them. This is all controlled by the body and when you supply the right raw materials in the form of natural food extracts or herbs, this enables the body to perform that function.

For the males we recommend TestostR8, and also sometimes females benefit from the TestostR8 also. For the females EstR8 normally helps in this area (these are all Zeta8 products).

5. Posture and Structure

It’s very common in my practice to find a tilted pelvis, and when we say tilted we mean tilted forward and not to one side, something similar to a sway back or an arched back where the spine and the pelvis tilt forward thus arching the back sticking the bottom out and protruding the stomach.

I often jokingly say to my patients would you like the bum and tummy reduction adjustment and you can imagine their response. Often when we adjust the pelvis and the spine to reduce the tilt that also helps to pull the stomach back in.

A side note here, in women often the uterus can drop forward as can the bladder and this also contributes to a bulging stomach. So not only do we correct the pelvic tilt but sometimes we have to correct the position of the organs, particularly the uterus and the bladder.

In this group we also include posture, so just as we can correct the pelvis and the spine by reducing the tilt so the individual by training themselves to have a better posture can contribute in this area also. What we mean by that is to tilt or move the pelvis so that the pubic bones up and as they are moved up the stomach will move in and the buttock will tuck under. So it’s a combined effect of flattening the lower curve of the spine and tilting the pelvis so that the pubic bones move up and the stomach is pulled in.

Some people find it impossible to do at first and so it does require practise and some time and a little bit of guidance to achieve it but if practised and maintained it will go a long way to reduce the belly bulge.

6. Stomach Muscles

This may seem too obvious to mention here but by working hard to correct your posture you will automatically help to tone up the muscles in your stomach. A good exercise that we give to our patients which I will do my best to describe(it is easier to demonstrate live) is if you lie on your back with your knees bent and your hands supporting your head, not pushing on your head but just supporting your head – there is a difference. Take a deep breath in and as you breath out you pull your stomach in and you lift your shoulder blades ever so slightly off the floor. Hold this for as long as you can as you are breathing out then you drop back and you take another breath in you pull the stomach in and if possible tilt the pelvis so the pubic bone moves up and then do a very slight lift of the top half of the body upwards off the floor but do not push on the neck, you only support the neck. It must be done with the stomach muscles. So you know if you are doing it correctly when you come up ever so slightly your stomach must drop to the floor, it must flatten, it must not go up to the ceiling, and so by looking at your stomach you can retrain your stomach to be used in the way that it is supposed to be used. Most people when they try this exercise actually do it on breathing in which is totally incorrect. Try it and see how you go and you will realise how you have not trained either your posture or your stomach muscles to work properly.

So the whole action is performed while breathing out and sucking your stomach in. Many people call this a crunch and it’s much better than a sit-up. If you do this regularly it will go a long way in developing the muscles of your stomach and it even helps to improve your core strength and strengthens your back at the same time.

If you want to shift some bulging from the side of your stomach then you just add little twist moving the elbow towards the opposite knee. Not actually going all the way towards the knee but just a slight twist of the torso as if you were going to move your right elbow to say your left knee and then on your next little crunch you twist the body ever so slightly so the left elbow moves slightly towards the right knee, and it’s only the slightest twist. At the risk of complicating it you can come up as you are breathing out and do a double twist to do both sides at once.

I hope that is not too complicated for you and if you can’t follow it get someone to demonstrate it for you who know what they are doing.

7. Fat Burning

Probably the one you all wanted to hear about. Fat is simply stored energy and your body will store it wherever it feels it is going to restrict you the least and so that’s why it sticks it on your buttocks, hips and on your stomach. Yes it can be hard to shift if you don’t know how. You should be doing the normal things to help your body reduce its fat supplies by following a good diet and by getting some exercise so you can burn it off. If you are already doing these things then the following suggestions will work even better. To increase your fat burning make sure that you are looking at balancing your metabolism which we can do that through the metabolic typing for you but there are two products that we recommend that can help you break through any barriers or blocks that you may have. One of them is called TrimR8 and we suggest you take a teaspoon twice a day either in between meals or half an hour before meals – two teaspoons if you want a better effect. Most people have noticed the effect of reducing appetite, increasing energy and also helping to burn fat.

Increasing the energy actually has the effect of increasing motivation which then helps you to be more disciplined in the areas where you should be working such as a proper diet and proper exercise. We have had some excellent results with this product especially where people were stuck. It also helps with craving so if you have a sugar craving or a chocolate craving and you have a fruit smoothie with the TrimR8 instead of the sugar or the chocolate hit it can actually help satisfy that need.

The other product we suggest you use is FigR8 which if taken at night before you go to bed may help the body to manufacture the human growth hormone which actually burns fat while you sleep. The human growth hormone is also considered to be an anti-aging hormone. It helps to not only burn fat but also to stay and look younger.

Another couple of products we recommend for your fat burning are Oxygen8, which supplies the oxygen so you can burn your fat, and the InvigR8, which helps to supply the enzymes which are required also for your body to create energy by burning fuel. Your body uses glucose, which is a form of sugar in the blood, and when the sugar enters the cell the body in the presence of oxygen it burns the fuel or the glucose to create ATP which is an energy currency for the body. ATP is what the body uses to create energy. As we said earlier, fat is simply stored energy and when you eat more food, more sugar, more protein or more fat than you need, it stores it as fat. So to burn that stored energy, to burn that fat you need to exercise, you need to eat correctly, but by supplying enzymes it provides the other nutrients required in the energy producing cycle in the body. This is called the Krebs cycle and for the body to create energy it needs more than just oxygen and glucose. It also needs a lot of other nutrients to complete the cycle. Enzymes are a critical part of that energy pathway. Unfortunately enzymes are lost in cooking and in storage. InvigR8 is a powder made from super foods high in nutrients and enzymes that the body can then utilise to burn its excess fuel.

So you will notice in our regime at the end of this article a number of products that we recommend that you can take. You should take at least two each month to really win the battle of the belly bulge. It is possible and many others are doing it and we wish you every success in improving not only how you look but also how you feel about yourself.

The Belly Bulge Burning Protocol

Please note this is a suggested protocol only and you can mix and match. You can take more than two things at a time should you wish but generally speaking each step represents one month

Step 1: Bowel detoxification and digestion- RegenR8 and Fulmin8 – one teaspoon of each taken together first thing in the morning before eating.

Step 2: Fat Burning – TrimR8 one teaspoon twice a day in between or a half hour before meals and FigR8, one to two teaspoons before bed.

Step 3: Yeast and Parasite Control- RegenR8 one teaspoon first thing in the morning and Citr8 four drops twice a day

Step 4: Energy and Enzymes- InvigR8 and Oxygen8 one teaspoon twice a day, taken together in between meals, before, during or after a workout.

If you are super keen to really hit everything hard you can combine some of these protocols by taking the RegenR8 and the Fulmin8 in the morning, the TrimR8 through the day and the FigR8 at night. That would really blast your belly bulge!

These can all be taken either in water, juice or half water half juice. Half sparkling apple juice half water is a good mix.

Follow these instructions and I’m confident you will be delighted with the results as have so many others.

9 Tips for Finding Joy From Within

By Sheila Viers

“You will find your joy when you stop looking for it outside yourself and instead look within.”

It’s so tempting to give people or circumstances credit for how you feel, isn’t it? It seems logical-things happen, you think about and process them, and then you feel a certain way because of it, right? That’s the way human beings work.

But maybe that’s not true. Imagine what it would feel like to take total responsibility for the way you feel… for the thoughts you choose to think and the emotions you choose to hold your focus on.

What would it be like to always know that no matter what, you have the power to choose to feel joy?

This is what “finding your joy within” means. It means that it’s no one else’s responsibility to make you happy. It means that even in what might seem to be the toughest of circumstances, you can look for things to focus on that will help you to feel better. Here are 9 tips to help you find joy from within

1. Make lists daily of the things in your life that you appreciate.

And make the list because you truly want to make it and because you really do appreciate these things. This isn’t something that you can just go through the motions and get the benefit from it. You’ve got to hit pause on everything else, clear your mind, take a deep breath and think about what you really appreciate right now today.

2. Tell everyone you know: “My happiness depends on me, so you’re off the hook.” And then demonstrate it.

Make a commitment to yourself to stop looking for reasons, blaming, or making mental lists of excuses as to why you aren’t happy. Take your power back.

3. Look at challenges through the lens of: “what does this help me to clarify about what I want for my life?” Keep your focus on the answer.

Every challenge is an opportunity for us to learn more about ourselves and what we really want. Give your challenges an imaginary hug and thank them for the chance to gain more clarity about yourself and your preferences for your life.

4. Adopt the affirmation: “things are always working out for me-whether I see the path right now or not.”

It feels good just to say that doesn’t it? You can’t help but have amazing things happen when you adopt this attitude.

5. Let go of worrying about the “what ifs” and trying to control.

Worrying, what-iffing, and trying to control from a forceful stance is silly. Just let go, go with the flow, and allow things to unfold. Take one step at a time, on a moment by moment basis toward what feels best based on the information you have right now. You might be surprised how well things can work out on their own when you let them.

6. Take care of yourself first, then others.

It sounds like a selfish thing to say, but when you are well taken care of, you have more to offer others.

7. Evaluate, measure, compare less… a lot less.

Let your intuition guide you toward the things that fit you best rather than what you think you should do and/or what everybody else is doing.

8. Find positive things about yourself and celebrate them-be satisfied with who you are right now.

You are amazing right here and now in this moment. Own it. Flaunt it. BE IT. Not because you are trying to impress anyone, but because you deserve to experience what it feels like to completely love yourself. You don’t need to change one thing in order to be perfect and worthy of happiness.

9. Embrace the journey.

When you look back at the end of your life, many of the things you thought were huge struggles could actually be seen as adventures on the ride of life. It might seem odd to think of it that way, especially for those of us that want to achieve, prove, create results, make change for a better world… but it really does get you thinking-what’s the point of it all anyway? It’s not really to lose 5 pounds or fit into your favorite pair of jeans, is it? Or in more general terms, we aren’t here to prove. Give yourself a break and enjoy the ride. Expand, learn, grow, interact, love, and experience life.

Are Onions Good or Bad for You?

07 Dec

Why Was Garlic Traditionally Used to Ward off Evil Spirits?

I’m not sure but the following interesting article I received from my good friend and eminent Naturopath Glen Gillard may shed some light on the subject. I openly admit that at present I have no way to verify the information in the article- but you do! It will be simply a matter of trying the methods outlined yourself (not to ward off evil spirits) It wont do you any harm and may do you a lot of good. Just as importantly- it may prevent you from doing yourself a lot of harm. Obviously garlic and onions are not the same but they do come from the same family and have similar beneficial effects on the body. They both help destroy harmful micro-organisms (viruses, bacteria etc) within the body. How much better to destroy them without, before they enter the body. It may be helpful to know that, many years ago people thought that sickness was caused by evil spirits. Enjoy the article and the benefits.

To your Health!

Dr Bill Davison

www.empoweryou.com.au

In 1919 when the flu killed 40 million people there was this Doctor that
visited the many farmers to see if he could help them combat the flu.
Many of the farmers and their family had contracted it and many died.
The doctor came upon this one farmer and to his surprise, everyone was very healthy.

When the doctor asked what the farmer was doing that was different
the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the
rooms of the home (probably only two rooms back then).

The doctor couldn’t believe it and asked if he could have one of the onions and place it under the microscope.

She gave him one and when he did this, he did find the flu
virus in the onion. It obviously had absorbed the virus, therefore keeping
the family healthy.

Now, I heard this story from my hairdresser.

She said that several years ago, many of her employees were coming down with the flu, and so were many of her customers.

The next year she placed several bowls with onions around in her shop.

To her surprise, none of her staff got sick.

It must work.

Try it and see what happens.

We did it last year and we never got the flu.

Now there is a PS to this for I sent it to a friend in Oregon who
regularly contributes material to me on health issues.

She replied with this most interesting experience about onions:

“Thanks for the reminder. I don’t know  about the farmer’s story….but, I do
know  that I contracted pneumonia, and, needless to  say, I was very ill.

I came across an article that said to cut both ends off an onion put it into an
empty jar, and place the jar next to the sick patient at night.

It said  the onion would be black in the morning from  the germs…sure enough it happened just like  that…the onion was a mess but I began to feel  better.

Another thing I read in the article was that onions and garlic placed around
the room saved many from the black plague years ago. They have powerful
antibacterial, antiseptic properties.”

This is the other note.

Lots of times when we have stomach problems we don’t know what to blame.
Maybe it’s the onions that are to blame. Onions absorbing  bacteria is the
reason they are so good at  preventing us from getting colds and flu and  is
the very reason we  shouldn’t eat an onion that has been sitting for  a time after it has been cut open.

LEFT OVER ONIONS ARE POISONOUS

I had the wonderful privilege of touring Mullins Food Products, Makers of
mayonnaise. Questions about food poisoning came up, and I wanted to share what I learned from a chemist.

Ed, who was our tour guide, was a food chemistry whiz. During the tour, someone asked if we really needed to worry about mayonnaise.

People are always worried that mayonnaise will spoil.

Ed’s answer will surprise you.

Ed said that all commercially-made mayo is completely safe.

“It doesn’t even have to be refrigerated. No harm in refrigerating it, but
it’s not really necessary.”

He explained that the pH in mayonnaise is set at a point that bacteria could not survive in that environment.

He then talked about the summer picnic, with the bowl of potato salad sitting  on the table, and how everyone blames the  mayonnaise when someone gets sick.

Ed says that, when food poisoning is reported, the first thing the officials
look for is when  the ‘victim’ last ate ONIONS and where those  onions came
from (in the potato salad?).

Ed says it’s not the mayonnaise (as long as it’s not homemade mayo) that spoils in the outdoors.

It’s probably the ONIONS, and if not the onions, it’s the POTATOES.

He explained onions are a huge magnet for bacteria, especially uncooked
onions. You should never plan to keep a portion of a sliced onion. He says
it’s not even safe if you put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in your
refrigerator.

It’s already  contaminated enough just by being cut open and  out for a bit,
and that it can be a danger to you.

(So you better doubly watch out for those onions you put in your hotdogs at the baseball park!). Ed says if you take the leftover onion and cook it like crazy you’ll probably be okay, but if you slice that leftover onion and put on your sandwich, you’re asking for trouble. Both the onions and the moist potato in a potato salad, will attract and grow bacteria faster than any commercial mayonnaise will even begin to break down.

Also, dogs should never eat onions. Their stomachs cannot metabolize onions.

Please remember it is dangerous to cut an onion and try to use it to cook
with the next day.

It becomes highly poisonous for even a single night and
creates toxic bacteria which may cause adverse stomach infections because of excess bile secretions and even food poisoning.

Please pass this on to all you love and care about.

BABY grabs surgeon! This is Unbelievable!  Please read before viewing the picture it’s worth it!
A picture began circulating in November! It should be The Picture of the Year,or perhaps,Picture of the Decade!   The picture is that of a 21-week-old Unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is  being operated on by surgeon named Joseph Bruner! The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would Not survive if removed from his mother’s womb!Little Samuel’s mother,Julie Armas,is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta She knew of Dr Bruner’s remarkable surgical procedure.Practicing at Vanderbilt Univ Med Ctr in Nashville,he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb.
During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via C-section and makes a small incision to operate
on the baby.As Dr Bruner completed the surgery on Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developed hand through the incision and firmly grasped the surgeon’s finger.Dr Bruner was reported as saying that when his finger was grasped,it was the most emotional moment of his life, and that for an instant during the procedure he was just frozen, totally immobile. The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity The editors titled the picture,Hand of Hope. The text explaining the picture begins,The tiny hand of 21-week-old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges
from the mother’s uterus to grasp the finger of Dr Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life.Little Samuel’s mother said they wept for day’s when they saw the picture. She said,The photo reminds us pregnancy isn’t about disability or an illness,it’s about a little person.Samuel was born in perfect health, the operation 100 percent successful. Now see the actual picture, and it is awesome incredible! The world needs to see this one!

The Most Common Hidden, Undiagnosed and Untreated Health Problem?

19 Oct

Hiatus Hernia Syndrome

Dr Steven Rochlitz PhD believed that “Hiatal Hernia Syndrome (HHS) with Vagus Nerve Imbalance may be the most common set of complaints in our species.”

I believe from my own clinical experience it could be the most hidden, undiagnosed and untreated health problem in patients that I see.

Some time ago we produced a newsletter/article called gastro Esophageal Reflux Disorder (GERD) in which we discussed reflux or “heartburn” and the role that Hiatus Hernia Syndrome (HHS) plays in these conditions.

Reading an article by Steven Rochlitz PhD has made me even more aware of the many other health problems that can be affected by HHS.

So much so that we have developed some extra techniques for discovering hidden HHS.

The patient would often present with a set of symptoms that sounded like HHS. Yet on testing nothing showed up. Since developing our testing further we now have found this condition to be even more common than first realized.

Fortunately we have ways of treating this very common, hidden significant condition.

Much of this information is taken from Dr Steven Rochlitz’ article entitled Hiatal Hernia Syndrome with Vagus Nerve Imbalance. See www.wellatlast.com

Causes of HHS

Here are some of the causative or aggravating factors associated with HHS.

Allergies that cause a reaction in the stomach.

Emotional Stress and Tension that causes the stomach to tighten up and push into the diaphragm.

Overeating large meals

Eating too quickly

Yeast and/or Candida overgrowth, causing gas and swelling of the stomach.

Eating too late before bed.

Certain exercises such as full sit-ups.

Eating when tense or stressed leading to improper digestion

Stomach hydrochloric acid imbalance – too much or too little.

Digestive problems

Incorrect food combining. ie eating starch with protein at the same meal,

Lifting, bending, sneezing, coughing can also be a problem

Overweight

HHS may contribute to Hypoadrenia (low adrenal function/stress glands), Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and low body temperature due to its effect on the vagus nerve. It may also be present in children with learning and behavioral disorders (ADD, ADHD etc)

It could be a factor in sleep apnea.

Probably most people who are chronically unwell have this syndrome. Steven Rochlitz PhD has linked this syndrome to various heart and lung problems. Hiatus hernia syndrome may be at least partially responsible for causing or exacerbating asthma, reflux, ulcer, sleep apnoea, panic attack, hypertension, PFO and other cardiac conditions. Up to 35% may have PFO (patent foramen ovale or “hole in the heart”) by middle age. Over 50% of mankind. may have this hidden condition, according to holistic health experts.

Many people may have had this problem for much of their lives. It could be involved in many chronic conditions, in multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) and electromagnetic field sensitivity (EMFS), and in food “allergies.”

Both mainstream and alternative medicine seem to be unaware or unappreciative of the serious illness or suffering that HHS commonly causes. It can cause any of the visceral organs to malfunction.

This factor may even be a predictor of life expectancy.

In a hiatal hernia (HH), the upper portion of the stomach protrudes through the opening (hiatus) in the diaphragm. HHS involves four components initially: the stomach, the esophagus, the diaphragm and the vagus nerve. Wellness can return if and when the stomach goes, and stays, below the diaphragmatic opening.

Possible Symptoms

Below is a list of some of the many possible symptoms of HHS and/or VNI. We are not saying that HIS/VNI is the sole cause of each of these complaints or conditions. Sometimes it exacerbates a condition, but other elements are involved.

The symptoms include: panic attack; belching; bloating; gas; anxiety; tachyardia; bradycardia; other heart conditions; palpitations, hypertension or hypo tension; asthma (may be the non-wheezing variation); shortness of breathe; hiccups; no deep breathing, or hyperventilation occurs; swallowing air; reflux, dental enamel erosion; ulcers; regurgitation, including dry heaves; waist sensitivity; nausea; diminished or excessive appetite; colic in infants; diarrhea or constipation; fatigue; hoarseness; coughing; pain (diaphragm, lungs, ribs, throat, chest, abdomen, shoulders, arms, neck, jaw, spine, extremities or back); arthritis; fatigue; nervousness; insecurity feelings; facial flushing; depression; orthostatic hypotension; food, chemical and electromagnetic allergies; TMJ; bruxism; headaches; dizziness; poor balance, numbness; paralysis; hypoglycemia; shakiness; fainting; confusion; poor stress tolerance; vision weakness; learning/ behavioral problems; premenstrual syndrome; prostate problems; bladder weakness; weight gain or loss; intestinal disease; gall bladder disease; adrenal fatigue; hypothyroidism; hyperthyroidism; kidney disease; epilepsy; insomnia; sleep apnoea – obstructive or central; many pregnancy complaints; porphyria, acute attacks.

PFO, the hidden heart defect that one out of three people have, is deeply linked to HHS/VNI. This may be one reason why only some people with hiatal hernia suffer so much, and others with HH do not.

Anyone who is prone to suffer bouts of panic, breathlessness, arrhythmia, tachyardia, hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, orthostatic hypotension or fainting should get tested for both the PFO and HHS.

The vagus nerve may already be damaged/imbalanced from numerous possible underlying and hidden conditions.

Allergies, heavy metal poisoning, parasitosis, porphyria and other factors could already be imbalancing the vagus nerve.

People with large hernias but who are asymptomatic may have a very balanced vagus nerve and perhaps a defect – free heart.

The vagus nerve is the tenth cranial nerve, and is also called the pneumogastic nerve. It starts in the brainstem – within the medulla –, which contains the cardiac, respiratory, vomiting, and vasomotor centers, and involves autonomic functions such as breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, maintaining consciousness and regulating the sleep cycle.

The vagus nerve is part of the parasympathetic nervous system. Both are part of the autonomic nervous system, and thus involved in cardiac muscle and smooth muscle regulation.

The slightest upward displacement of the stomach through the diaphragm disorders the vagus nerve or worsens its already unbalanced nature. Overproduction or underproduction of hydrochloric acid may result. The heart and lungs may no longer function optimally. The entire digestive process may be adversely affected.

From an imbalanced vagus nerve, other organs can begin to malfunction depending on genetic weaknesses and other factors. Of course, the diaphragm itself will be directly affected, and normal breathing will no longer occur.

The heart itself can be crowded and pressed upon by the stomach being “where it doesn’t belong.” These last factors, and the direct hyper excitability of the vagus nerves connection to the heart, lead to many Emergency Room (ER) visits and “pseudo – heart attack” symptoms of chest pain, breathing difficulty and arm numbness. If you’re experiencing these complaints, you should not assume that they are arising from HHS; you should seek emergency medical care. When French President Nicolas Sarkozy collapsed in July 2009, he spent the night in hospital and was diagnosed with a vagus nerve problem. The doctors said that it was “minor.”

There is a similarity between HHS and angina. Both can cause similar symptoms, and both can occur after similar events such as overeating, exercise and heavy lifting.

Any degenerative heart condition ultimately may result from, or be exacerbated by HHS/VNI.

Pregnant women, for obvious reasons, need frequent hiatal hernia corrections, as do obese people, body-builders and others whose exercise regime or type of work causes stress to this area.

Note that this hernia can readily result from birth trauma. Some chiropractors gently pull down the stomach of newborns, possibly preventing much illness.

Helpful Recommendations for HHS

To help deal with HHS, its recommended that you eat small meals, chew your food well – 30 times, elevate the top of your bed by 6-9 inches (~ 15-23 centimeters) and/or get a wedge to sleep on, and sleep on memory foam. Don’t eat spicy foods. Lose weight if possible. Avoid alcohol, tobacco, caffeine and nightshades (tomato, potato, etc), and avoid or get muscle tested for diary, wheat, gluten, vinegar and citrus. Avoid fried or greasy foods, mints, nuts, soda, hot or cold food or drink, fats and oils including raw “nutritional” oils, and clothing that’s tight at the waist. Don’t eat less than three hours before going to sleep. Try a liquid diet, juicing or baby food if you’re suffering greatly. Don’t eat too much roughage or take many tablets or capsules at once.

It may be a shock to learn that until about 200 years ago, people slept in sealed position against a wall (see the History Channel video Cities of the Underworld: Freemason Underground).

The Oesophagus and Schatzki’s Ring

Some of the complaints attributable to hiatal hernia may be caused by the so-called Schatzki’s ring and not the hernia itself, or by both. Schatzki’s ring is a disorder of the lower oesophegeal sphincter (LOS OR LES). The LES acts like a valve between the oesophagus and the stomach.

If this ring is present, the LES doesn’t function properly. It may be open when it should be closed, causing reflux, or it may be closed when it should be open. The latter condition may trap food above the ring. There may be constriction. Trapped food, or spasms of the oesophagus, can then cause breathing difficulty (asthma, etc), tachycardia or other arrhythmia. Schatzki’s ring should show up on upper GI X-ray or endoscopy.

Endoscopic stretching of the ring – via an inserted tool – may be recommended for Schatzki’s ring if there is a narrowing and if the person has swallowing difficulty.

Avoiding caffeine and any other neurotoxins and/or excitotoxins, such as the ubiquitous monosodium glutamate (MSG) or aspartame, is important. Perhaps the most nerve-damaging substance is mercury. Soda, with the extra gas it contains, should be avoided. Trapped gas makes this syndrome much worse.

One hundred years ago, medical schools taught Roemheld’s syndrome, which describes significant cardiac complaints arising from stomach problems. Similarly, ancient medical literature described asthma as a stomach-originating complaint.

Hiatal Hernia Syndrome Correction

Fortunately we have a reliable test and treatment for HHS in the clinic. We have literally tested and treated hundreds of patients with this condition with very pleasing results for them and us.

You can alleviate the symptoms yourself by locating a point one inch (2.54cm) below the xiphoid process, which is the bottom of the sternum, in the center where the ribs came together. The correction is to push a bit into this area with both thumbs, and then continue pressing in as you slowly move your thumbs up and down to the left 4-6 inches (10-15cm). Breathe out as you do this. Do it at least twice. You can do this several times per day. Before eating and before sleeping are good times to re-set your HH.

HHS and the Digestive System

The body works as a complete integrative system where one area affects another.

This is particularly true with the whole of the digestive system and HHS.

Each can affect the other

In the clinic we gain our best results by treating both HHS and the digestive system.

One of our patients was told by his wife when his HHS was playing up because of his bad breath.

Every so often he would get the correction done and then would be fine for a while (as would his wife).

But it kept coming back and so did he!

Upon further investigation it was discovered that he had parasites and bacteria in his gut, which had to be resolved to get a better result with his HHS

A very good new product we have found for achieving and maintaining a healthy digestion is RegeneR8 (see www.drbill.zeta8.com).

It contains both Pro-biotics and Pre-biotics.

Probiotics are the natural healthy bacteria normally found in the gut that regulate

the unhealthy organisms.

Prebiotics are a new innovation.

They are a predigested superfood that the Probiotic bacteria feeds and reproduces on.

Putting both in together ensures the healthy bacteria get the best start and are not overcome by the unhealthy organisms.

Something like when you buy a plant from the nursery; it usually is in a pot containing

very rich optimum growing soil.

When you plant it you leave that soil around it to make sure you get the ideal start for the young vulnerable plant.

After it gets going and growing it can feed off a more inferior or less rich soil.

It’s the same with the healthy bacteria and the prebiotic.

Helpful Hints

Aloe Vera may help the burning or reflux and is very soothing and healing for the stomach.

Slippery elm, meadowsweet and Morinda/Noni juice all improve digestion and the latter two help balance (too high or too low) acidity in the stomach.

Hiatus Hernia and Life Expectancy

The hiatus hernia may be a predictor of life expectancy.

A recent advance in cardiology is the sub-field of heart rate variability (HRV).

HRV refers to statistical analysis of five-minute electrocardiograms. HRV analysis yielded the conclusion that heart rate variability is perhaps the best predictor of life expectancy. But HRV and even stress “stress vulnerability” and “reactivity to stress” have been demonstrated to be highly dependent on the state of the vagus nerve. Thus HRV studies have now found that life expectancy may depend on an optimum or balances vagus nerve – and the vagus nerve cannot be in balance unless the stomach is down and stays down.

In Summary

Hiatus Hernia Syndrome and Vagus Nerve Imbalance may be a causative or an aggravating factor in a vast array of conditions and therefore should be regularly checked and if found, corrected to ensure optimum health is achieved and maintained in everyone.
